Treatment process combination

This full-scale drinking water production site in Mosina applies various treatment process combinations. The main source of water is the Warta River which is either tapped by river bank filtration (RBF) or used for managed aquifer recharge (MAR). After abstraction the raw water is treated by cascade aeration, rapid filtration, ozonation, activated carbon filtration and disinfection with ClO2 and NaOCl.

Aims & ambition

  • analyse the impact low flow or flooding regimes on water quality (based on historical data and new measurements)
  • demonstrate micropollutant removal by targeted coupling of BF with MAR and further develop a prediction tool for the removal capabilities for cNES
  • derive adapted operational regimes for the natural treatment components as well as tailored post-treatment
  • demonstrate potential to increase subsurface treatment efficiency
